#14 – An Extraordinary Women in the Bible Exhibition and Concert
by Tristan Latchford
Date added: 30/10/2024
It is with great excitement that I can share with you this week the details of the Exhibition in Guildford (hosted by Holy Trinity, St Mary’s) that has just opened its doors yesterday (the 29th October 2024) for early viewing.
The exhibition itself consists of an audiovisual experience where each painting by Silvia Dimitrova is gloriously displayed alongside the biblical text that it grew from and the poem by Graham Kings that grew from each of these. Finally, excerpts of the music written based on the biblical text, the painting, and the poem can be heard as the paintings are viewed. The recordings are performed by the Harmonicham Choir from our session in Baltimore in 2022. There are lots of events that have been planned in conjunction with this, as can be seen in the flyer below.
This is a truly fantastic opportunity to see the paintings and to be able sit with them and contemplate them. Each time I look at the paintings, I still see new things – one particular example I noticed last week is the way that the patterns on Esther’s headdress reflect the flowers she is holding. If you would like to join us for the concert, tickets are £10.00. You can get them from the eventbrite page by scanning the QR code, clicking the below poster, or simply clicking here!
Finally, on the 15th November there is the festival concert, which I’ll be attending to enjoy Sebastian Forbes conducting the In Nomine choir and Peter Wright in their interpretation of the full concert of Anthems. I’m really looking forward to hearing what they have made of the music, and the opportunity to add my voice to theirs in the congregational singing at the end of VII - Priscilla.
I very much look forward to seeing some of you there, and catching up since our last concert together.
